Racletta was founded in 1946 in Roeselare, in a region with a long-standing tradition in the production of cleaning tools and household goods. Nearby Izegem, known as the city of brushes, played an important role in shaping the industrial character of the area.
Today, more than 80 years later, Racletta is one of the largest manufacturers of metal and plastic floor squeegees. Alongside this core range, the company also produces a full range of metal dustpans, developed with the same focus on durability and reliability.
The history of Racletta
The company started as a one-man family business, operating as a wholesaler of cleaning products. In the years following the Second World War, many door-to-door salesmen — locally known as “leurders” — were active in and around Roeselare. They would purchase cleaning tools and household articles and sell them directly to families, house by house.
This close connection with everyday users laid the foundation for Racletta’s practical and user-focused approach.Gradually, production began on a small scale. Floor squeegees were first manufactured alongside trading activities, but as demand increased, the emphasis shifted from wholesale to production. Over the years, floor squeegees became the core of the business, turning craftsmanship into industrial expertise.
